WordPress and image uploading problems is an old story. The last time I had a WordPress image uploading problem, I spent a couple of hours figuring it out.
Today, I tried uploading a picture to my Hebrew blog - and couldn't. The upload button simply didn't respond, and no browsing window popped out like it should have. I first thought it might be a Firefox problem - so I closed the browser and restarted the PC. That didn't help, of course.
Then I remembered that yesterday I installed Flash 10 - and something clicked in my head. Flash 10 was supposed to solve quite a few bugs related to Firefox, YouTube and such. Maybe it solved some bugs - but it just created a new one - WordPress 2.5 and Flash 10 just don't mix. Since the entire image-uploading interface in WordPress is built in Flash - we have a problem here.
The solution I found is very simple - install a WordPress plugin that disables the flash uploading - and you're done!
Good luck!

24 Interesting Images of Money
Money is fast becoming a digital, invisible thing. It's in the bank, we pay for things using our credit card and we buy things on the net with a click of the mouse.
Still, money has shape, colors and even smell. Here are 24 cool images of money.
For example, this image of a 10,000 Dollar bill. Apparently, the Federal Reserve used it to transfer money to and from banks and was never issued to the public. They also produced a $500, $1,000, $5,000 and even a $100,000 dollar note. They were last printed in 1945 and have since been discontinued.

Yahoo's Top Pictures of the Year
Contrary to the bullshit behind the end-of-the-year-top-searches, I found Yahoo's top pictures of the year rather interesting.
Here you can see the most viewed pictures of 2007, and surprisingly enough, the first 5 do not include any women in bathing suits (just women on high heels).
The most e-mailed pictures are different. The top one is of crocodile at a zoo in the southern Taiwan city of Kaohsiung, that holds the forearm of a zoo veterinarian in between its teeth. It's a rather gruesome picture. I guess people enjoy shocking their friends - or maybe they need to SHARE the shock. The second picture in line, by the way, is of Villagers boil rats in Suphan Buri province. So, we like animals and death, don't we?
The 4th image on this list, finally, shows some booty. Thank god!

Flickr Enables Online Photo Editing
Flickr, the photo-sharing site, has announced a partnership with Picnik, an online photo editing service.
Above your photos, you can see an "Edit" icon. Clicking on it will lead to a screen with some basic photo-editing options - crop, resize, sharpen, red-eye removal etc. Every option has an automatic setting, so even if you don't know much about editing digital pictures, this service might try and fix the common problems for you.
After you are done with editing, you can move to the "Create" tab and add text, shapes and special effects to your photo.
The service is running smoothly and working well. It supports Firefox, which is not an obvious these days. For those of us who regularly use Photoshop, or other editing software, this online service might not be necessary. It's not designed for bulk editing, either. Also, there are many free online picture editors (Like Snipshot). Still, for those minor fixes and fun, it's a neat solution. Picnik has partnerships with Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket and Webshots.
