Watching The King of Kong really makes you wonder if it's a real documentary or science fiction. You sit there, see the movie, and find it very hard to believe that these are REAL people. An amazing movie, nonetheless.

The King of Digg, however, is a nice salute to the original. However, kind of makes you wonder - why do people still bother with Digg? Get with the program, people - Digg is going down. Hmm, come to think of it, maybe it's a little PR trick by Kevin Rose and his buddies - get Digg back on the right track, perhaps? I don't think that's going to cut it, boys. Try harder.

Needed: A "Meh" Button on StumbleUpon

I have a suggestion for the developers of StumbleUpon, which will improve their product tenfold.

StumbleUpon is a lovely tool. It gets you around the net easily, helps you discover new sites and interesting bits of information and it's really good for killing time when you seemed to have run out of sites to browse.

Of course, the Thumbs Up-Thumbs Down rating system adds to the fun. StumbleUpon is supposed to give you a personalized experience of the internet. It's not perfect, but it works. You like a site - vote up. You hate it and don't want to ever see it - vote down.

Many a times, though, I get to a site that I don't like, but I don't dislike either. It's simply, well, a "Meh" site. It's neither hot nor cold, neither funny nor sad, neither moving nor annoying - it simply does nothing for you. It's meh.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the term: according to Urban Dictionary, Meh is the verbal equivalent of a shrug of the shoulders, or a statement that suggests indifference - to be used when one simply does not care.

I suggest a new button for SU - a Meh button. This way, I can express my opinion of the site quickly and easily, and tell StumbleUpon to bring me better links from now on. It's not like a thumbs-down, but it allows me to say something about the site (Hey, I'm too lazy to write a review every second) and not just Stumble away for the next one, keeping SU wondering if it did a good job.

So, what do you think about that? Yeah, I know, I know. Meh.

Anonymous VS Scientology: A Call for Action in Boston

Here we are - yet another video by Anonymous (although the YouTube user isn't the same one as in the previous videos). This time the call for action is less cryptic and more to the point.

I wondered what is the meaning of February 10th, and Anonymous provided an answer. They invite "Boston area residents who are affiliated with Anonymous. Mark the date of February the tenth on your calendar. On that date we will congregate at 448 Beacon Street, Boston Massachusetts, at eleven a. m. to participate in the worldwide protest of Scientology".

Anonymous recommends bringing masks - thus protesters can avoid being identified. The demonstrations are supposed to be worldwide. I sincerely hope this is not a publicity stunt by some very sophisticated large company.

It also has been said that the Scientology cultists have struck back and that the main Project Chanology site is now down. Hard to say which is the MAIN site, because there are several interesting references to it. You can see one here.

Show me How it Sucks

How it Sucks, a relatively new site, wants to help you to know how much a product sucks - before you think of buying it.

So, instead of rating bars that show how GOOD the product is, How it Sucks shows you how BAD it is.

The idea is amusing and not so bad, but the site doesn't rely on its own data. Product reviews and the "suckiness" rating are taken from another site, you all know very well - Amazon.

So basically, all this site ads is a graphic representation of the supposed level of quality of the product. Which isn't much. I am guessing that all the links to Amazon are through their affiliate program. Ah, here it is - at the bottom of the site it says "in association with Amazon". Very cool association, fellas.

So what we are seeing here is a nice way to make a few bucks without much of an effort in the content department. The design ain't much to talk about, either. The gimmick is cute, but in the end, this site doesn't really add any value to a shopper looking for opinions on an item. Can I hear you say "Web 2.0 bullshit"?

Two Billion Photos on Flickr

Now, that's a number for you. Flickr has hit the 2,000,000,000 photos mark.

It would have been nice if this picture had a more symbolic meaning, but you really can't control this kind of thing. That's user generated content for you.

I use Flickr, but not as much as I used to. I have a pro account and I am very happy with it. For me, Flickr isn't really a community or a social site - just a cool place to store my pictures. I used Flickr once to make very cool business cards (via MOO), and I might use other features - but the entire groups-contacts-comments thing never really caught on with me. I use the site mainly for storage, and to send links of my photo sets to my friends.

I know there are other great picture storage sites (like PhotoBucket), but since I'm cool with Flickr for the moment, I don't plan on switching.

So, congratulations to Flickr. See ya in the 3,000,000,000 photo!
